For the Summer - This is an in person program taking place in the blackbox theatre located at Gallery 37. Teens will have hands-on experience with all technical aspects of putting on a full scale musical. They will learn how to use power tools to build the set, painting techniques to paint the set, and have the opportunity to learn about lighting and sound. Then they will be on the backstage crew during the performances filling all crew positions including front of house, props, set crew, sound, spotlight, and stage management. For the Spring and Fall - Set Design and Production for Theatre is a hands on approach to design concepts and practices for theatre production. Teens will learn the basics of design principals and how they can be utilized for theatre. They will be introduced to construction, painting and model building techniques used in design and production for theatre. The program takes place in person at Gallery 37
Fall/Spring sessions focus on the basics of design. During these semesters teens will learn the basics of design, set construction, model building, and Scenic Painting Techniques.
Summer sessions focus on producing a fully staged musical. during this sessions teens will get hands on experience in set construction, stage lighting, props, and scenic painting while building and installing a full scale musical. After construction is complete each student plays a part in the crew for the run of the production, including backstage crew, stage management, spotlight operator, sound, and front of house.
